All our products are tested by independent, internationally recognized laboratories and meet the current EU requirements for materials intended to come into contact with food. Here we provide the documentation showing how our products have been tested, which analyses have been carried out, and which standards form the basis of the approvals.
Overview:
Tested by independent laboratories (Intertek, TÜV Rheinland, RISE, SGS)
Approved for food contact in accordance with EU regulations and the LFGB standard
No PFAS, PTFE, or BPA detected in the tests performed
Responsible materials and production (FSC – cutting board)
Transparency through the availability of test reports and certifications
Cutting board – tests and certifications
The Norrheim cutting board has been tested and approved for food contact in accordance with current European regulations. The tests and analyses were carried out by independent and accredited laboratories and include food safety, chemical analysis, material identification, and functional testing. The cutting board has also been tested according to U.S. requirements for food contact materials and complies with US FDA 21 CFR.
What has been tested
Food contact according to EU Regulations 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011
Food contact according to US FDA 21 CFR
Overall and specific migration
Heavy metals
BPA (Bisphenol A)
Phthalates
PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons)
Sensory testing (odor and taste)
Dishwasher resistance (tested with repeated washing cycles)
Heat resistance
Material analysis
An independent material analysis was carried out by RISE in Sweden. The analysis confirms that the cutting board is composed mainly of cellulose (wood fiber) and phenolic resin. The material composition was verified through actual laboratory analysis and not solely based on the supplier’s declarations.
Responsible sourcing
The manufacturer of the cutting board is FSC Chain of Custody certified through Bureau Veritas. The certification ensures traceability and that the cellulose used comes from responsibly managed forests.
Production takes place at a facility that has passed an independent SMETA/SEDEX audit, during which working conditions, health and safety, environmental practices, and business ethics were assessed.

Frying pan – tests and certifications
The Norrheim frying pan has been tested according to the German LFGB (§31) standard for materials intended to come into contact with food. The tests and analyses were carried out by independent and accredited laboratories and include coating safety, chemical migration, sensory properties, and mechanical testing.
What has been tested
LFGB (§31) – food contact
Overall migration from the coating
Specific migration of metals
BPA (Bisphenol A)
Primary aromatic amines
PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons)
Formaldehyde
PFOS from the coating
Sensory testing (taste and odor)
Dishwasher resistance
Base and stability testing
All tests were passed (PASS) in accordance with the applicable limits for the samples tested.
PFAS / PTFE
The coating was analyzed by RISE in Sweden. The analysis shows that the coating is siloxane-based (sol-gel) and that no PFAS were detected in the material.
Material analysis (RISE)
An independent analysis of the coating was carried out by RISE using advanced Py-GC/MS technology. The analysis identifies siloxanes as the main component of the coating, which is characteristic of ceramic sol-gel-based coatings.
